The White House recently detailed the establishment of twelve new research institutes, all to be focused on AI and quantum information science. As reported by VentureBeat, this fund is primarily for major institutions and NSF (which is great! I hope it will trickle down to entrepreneurs, academia, and others). But I am hopeful that the next $1B will target our academic institutions and those who have great talent/potential but not the funds. This investment will truly impact AI in our country for generations to come. We are way behind China and Canada, which heavily fund academic institutions and have done so for years. I hope this trend continues!
