BR: My Reading List Is Growing: Time is Shrinking!
Dear readers: The stack of books which I am reading is growing rapidly. Thank you for your keen interest and I know a few of you have reached out to see what is coming up next. So, in this blog I wanted to share with you which books I am reading and will continue to share the list as it grows. I am not sure my time will permit posting reviews, but I will do my best. As always, let me know what is on the top of your reading list!
1. Abundance by Diamandis/Kotler.
Peter Diamandis is one of the stronger and clearer thinkers of our generation, questioning things as opposed to riding the hype-wave. I am enjoying reading it for many reasons. One reason in particular, is the diversity of topics given Peter’s many areas of interest. This is key in expanding one’s perspective and lens!
2. Jugaad Innovation by Radjou/Prabhu/Ahuja.
Navi Radjou gained my interest recently at a conference and the discussion was another take of frugal innovation, what he calls Jugaad Innovation. Key in identifying and developing highly creative innovative products, developed and available for the masses around the world. Navi is a genuine and thoughtful innovator who questions the ‘right’, rather than the ‘hype’ questions. I look forward to my upcoming discussions with Navi soon.
3. Collective Genius by Hill/ Brandeau/ Truelove and Lineback.
Linda Hill takes an interesting look at the necessary leadership for meaningful innovation. I highly recommend this book to HR staff particularly in large companies who need to start looking at grooming innovation leadership talent (vs. standard old-school leadership) as well as how to hire top innovation leadership talent.
4. To Sell Is Human by Daniel Pink.
We all sell and are in sales no matter what organization we think we are sitting in. Passion and entrepreneurship is about pride in selling what you have. Selling is the last mile to consuming a product. So yes, selling is beyond the sales organization. Daniel takes a nice look at this true phenomenon. I will be writing about this more soon. A Whole New Mind is another book by Daniel which discusses how the right and left side of our brains work with respect to leadership and success.
5. Who Owns The Future by Jaron Lanier.
Commerce today is run and participate in by consumers, who are providing ‘free’ content on the ‘free’ internet to companies who are profiting from this. The future is changing rapidly. Should the economics of commerce change? Should content be provided for free?
